Benedictus (Complete Concept)

Twilight Father

"There is no good. No evil. No Light. There is only POWER!"

Bio:

Benedictus the Twilight Father; Formerly known as Archbishop Benedictus, used to be a proud member of the Alliance who's kind, calm and caring presence; Even when faced with grim situation in the darkest of times - made him become well known throughout the lands of Azeroth over the years he was alive.

In his early days; Benedictus would be a student under the Religious leader Alonsus Faol; whom he trained underneath for many a years in order to shape himself to become the Priest he became known for in the later years. Benedictus was also part of the group that constructed the Cathedral of Light within Stormwind. Everything seemed to be on the right path for Benedictus, but as luck would have it - Terror was just around the corner.

Over the following years, Benedictus witnessed many horrible actions take place in the world who previously seemed to be so peaceful. He witnessed the First and Second war first hand and despite living trough them; The lives lost and souls which waned within these wars tok it's tool on him; and in no way would it help that both the Queen of Stormwind and his old mentor; Alonsus Faol would die as well.

Following the death of his mentor; Benedictus tok charge of the Church of Light and did his best to hold his spirits high and his will unshaken, a facade that eventually crumbled when the Third War broke out and Lordaeron fell to the Scourge. Benedictus began questioning the light despite still taking charge of the Church of Light and would over the years that followed; continue to question the light as despite the best efforts of the adventurers of Azeroth and Benedictus himself; Evil would seem to never rest.

Years later; Deathwing would return; and as the Dragon destroyed parts of Stormwind, Benedictus would seemingly come eye to eye with the Dragon Aspect. Being certain that the light had abandoned him; Benedictus broke at long last and tossed the light aside in favor for joining the Twilight's Hammer clan - a clan he would be in the service of in the shadows as he was certain that they would live while those that still had faith in the light; would die. In the end; after serving in the shadows - it all came to an end when Benedictus revealed his true self before the former Warchief Thrall and a band of adventurers that was attempting to bring the recovered Dragon Soul to Wyrmrest Temple in order to slay Deatwhing. Refusing to see the fall of his new master and to witness the "new world" die out; Benedictus stood and fought until he died in battle and was at long last given peace.

As the Nexus called upon Benedictus; He was released from his broken state of mind but was till to be reminded of what horrors he had committed during the end of his lifetime. Knowing now that no matter the horrors you face; one should never abandon hope - Benedictus would seem to embrace that he still now is forced to act as the Twilight Father rather than the Priest of the Light which he was; as he brings the power of Twilight with him to defeat newfound enemies and defend newfound allies within the world of The Nexus; A world that not yet seems to be breaking apart as badly as Azeroth did for Benedictus back in his past life.

Skin suggestions

Benedictus with his base appearance:

Alternate Skin tones I figured could be something that gives him a Fel-Green apperance instead of the base shadow themed one; As well as a even darker toned skin that goes from being "shadow" theme to straight out black themed.

Alternate skins; Much like Arthas / The Lich King - Benedictus could have a skin that gives him the appearance he had prior to becoming the Twilight Father - From a logical stand point this would not make much sense but - Paladin Arthas summoning Sindragosa despite having the Frostmourne is not excactly "correct" either so - Let's go I suppose?

Due to Benedictus having mostly Instant / direct spells; It would be cool of an alternate skin would have him take on the "Shadow / Void" theme but simply in a "purified / light forged" version, as if he is using the void purifited by the light to deal damage in a away.

I think shadow word: pain could be a skillshot. It has no cast time so giving it this disadvantage would make additional playstyle options.

Also, for your light-based skin this could be fine: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/5843Jz

Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding Shadow Word: Pain - It was on my backburner for a while to make it a skilshot - But I sort of settled for Benedictus to be a R-Assassin that is really easy to play; But with the whole Insanity / Void Form weaving - He'd be harder to master as (I do hope) my talents will allow for different focused play styles that will be twisted from battle to battle depending on Benedictus's own team as well as the enemy team.

And dear lord that artwork was pretty damn nice - It's pretty much what I had "imagined" it looking like; I just did not know if it would "thematically" be a good enough fit for a skin - But I'm kinda sold on it now due to that which you linked!
