Introduction Top

Hey everyone, I'm neonnomad, an avid HOTS player with over 600 games played to date. While I might not be a pro-league player, I've got my fair share of experience in the MOBA realm and finally decided to throw together my first guide for the community. I plan on updating this guide regularly, so keep checking back for any potential changes down the road. I'm completely open to user suggestions so let me know your thoughts in the comments

Talents Top

This is in no way a pro build, and is influenced by my personal experience. I will be updating this regularly to ensure that the best potential options are listed for the player

Tier 1

With The Wind: This talent can give you a little wiggle room for wave/hero harassment/chase down through your Q, however I feel there are better choices
Lost Soul: [Pick] This is currently my main pick. Your W is a huge part of your kit for control/minion clear, and once you hit Tier 6, it will provide your team with a area-of-effect Vulnerable that is amazing in team fights.
Barbed Shot:If my team wants me to focus on laning/camp clear (Which Sylvanas excels at) I'll go with this pick to synergize with Splinter Shot at Tier 5
Corruption:While this pick is great for putting early pressure on lane, it becomes useless once you get use to keeping down turrets/keeps with your passive via micro

Tier 2

Paralysis:This is a great pick if you are going to focus on laning/camp clear. This will allow you to completely wipe out Siege camps without taking damage as well as doing nearly the same with bruiser camps. This also plays out with keeping turrets/keeps/minions from hurting your waves as you push
Overflowing Quiver:unless you aren't actively popping your Q you will get little utility from this pick. The exception being on hero kills where the extra stacks you gain will immediately be shot out.
Rangers Ambush: [Pick] My top pick for the Tier 2. This talent adds even more burst potential to her kit and often can ensure you secure the kill on a chase. With this talent you have to make sure you are getting full utility out of it so ensure you have exhausted your Q before you teleport in/out
Envenom:This is still a great pick that can often give that extra bit of damage needed to burst someone down. I still feel that Rangers Ambush offers a better alternative to your burst potential, and it also comes with a better CD

Tier 3

Unstable Poison:This is an excellent addition to the wave clear/camp focused build. It allows for quick minion clears as well as potential damage output on any hero foolish enough to fight you from the middle of a minion pack
Life Drain:If you are finding that sustain is an issue for you then this a viable pick. I still prefer the extra damage output of Follow Through
Follow Through: [Pick] This might not seem like an obvious pick at first (as I have yet to see a hero benefit immensely from it)however IMO it is tailored perfectly to Sylvanas' kit. By ensuring you get an AA out before every Q hit you will almost always be dealing an extra 25% damage of your AA. Which in my opinion is an excellent choice for a damage focused build
Mercenary Lord:Not much to say about this one, too situational, and too many other better picks
Shade Form:While this skill may carry some utility for ganks/escapes I don't feel like it provides enough of a benefit to outweigh extra damage output on a ranged hero.

Tier 4

Wailing Arrow: [Pick] There is no contest here, this provides more utility than Possession ever will
Possession: while this heroic is cool in theory, it provides little benefit to actual gameplay and falls short in comparison to Wailing Arrow

Tier 5

Overwhelming Affliction:This talent can provide some decent CC on single target, however, there are more useful picks
Evasive Fire: [Pick] This is my top pick for the damage build as it provides the extra boost of speed you'll need for effective kiting. It can make the difference between securing a kill or getting out of a hairy situation. In addition, this synergizes well with your Tier 2 pick
Splinter Shot:This is my go to pick for the laning/camp build. It provides you with even more CC for camps/waves as well as damage output for faster clears. It can help a little in team fights, however I feel that increased mobility for kiting provides more utility
Spell Shield:If you are wanting more sustain against burst heroes like Nova or Zeratul than you could sub in this pick

Tier 6

Windrunner:while this is a pretty fun talent to run with (the synergy with Tier 2 is hilarious) it doesnt provide the team benefit that Cold Embrace does
Cold Embrace: [Pick]This is an incredible addition to her kit & can make or break team fights or large camp engages. The extra 25% damage in a substantially large area is too good to pass up. I suggest this for both builds.
Will of the Forsaken:an interesting ability, but I find that Evasive Fire is more beneficial overall for increased mobility/kiting.
Blood for Blood:A classic pick for any ranged assassin, however, you are the Dark Lady and you like to increase the deeps on targets for your whole team instead. Be a team player, blame your support for not keeping you up.

Tier 7

Deafening Blast [Pick] If you are comfortable with not having the escape utility of Bolt then this is the obvious pick. Double the silence time is incredibly effective in turning team fights in your favour
Dark Lady's Call: you shouldn't of taken this ult, so why take this?
Fury of the Storm: Not enough bang for your buck, I don't recommend this pick at all
Bolt of the Storm: Never a bad pick, can mean the difference between life/death or securing a tasty kill
