Beginning with Winter Lance Top

Jain uses Frostbolt from afar to poke enemies outside their range. Stay away from everyone as much as possible in the early levels. When they are busy doing something then you can enter their range and use Q. When the arrow is green you meet the range requirement. However, you can also hit people outside of your range by firing as they advance and you retreat. This is the dangerous part of pursuing Jaina, or an Abathur Symbiote. As you run, you as Jaina can Q fire, and as your target moves up they move into the maximum range of the Frosbolt.

Now, as you level, this maximum range will increase and pierce, making you a fatal target to pursue since your attacks also slow. This is why you grab Deep Chill at level 20, instead of a short ranged offensive teleport, since you can eventually stack your slow with multiple hits.

Frostbite is an affect that adds 25% slow and increases the damage of your abilities by 50% for 4 seconds (the snowflake symbol under target name). It unlocks Ice Block after 15000 damage to chilled heroes. It makes you invulnerable and chills nearby targets after duration ends. Can be cancelled early for no chill affect.

Your Cone of Cold is something to use with your Blizzard for heavy burst damage. In the early levels, you use these mostly to wave clear with enemy heroes inside those waves. Or do siege damage from afar, or just discourage pursuit. At higher levels, your Cone Roots already chilled targets (from frostbolt), letting your Blizzard make contact at least twice.

As you damage chilled targets with abilities you will gain a shield of 25% of the damage for 4 seconds. Use this with Frostbolt until you find an opportunity to then burst with Cone of Cold and Blizzard, then run while firing Frostbolt until your abilities reset, then repeat.

Ring of Frost adds to your burst and help you root for easier damage, while Summon Water Elemental adds a longer lasting distraction potentially, that can also deal damage to more mobile targets. I personally like the extra burst to go with my Cone/Blizzard strategy, and give myself a means or protection with cone to halt pursuit by groups of heroes. But others like having a pet. The summon is 20 seconds shorter to reset, but choose what you like, as the basic abilities are your primary method of combat either way.

Getting good with this build will enhance your ability to use the Symbiote on Abathur.

Continuing with Storm Ring Top

Building on the previous build, we explore the more difficult skill of timing an area attack. This attack warns the enemy just before landing it's first hit with a circle of the target area. To compensate, we will enlarge the area and increase the range of which we can cast it. We will further enhance the damage and the slow affect and ensure we have a supply of mana for more casts.

To land these shots out in the open, we will use two methods.

The first is to use Blizzard when our opponent is committed to an action. This is a bad method to use vs AI since they have an inhuman reaction time, but a good method versus human players who get tunnel vision and have an ego and adrenaline. So take action, when your opponent is also taking action.

If their action of offense, cast Blizzard ahead of them or place them on the edge of it. If they are fleeing, do the opposite. Always assume they might catch themselves and back away, so don't just put it in front and hope they step all the way in.

The second method is crowd control. We use our slows, yes, but also our teammates' stuns and our enemies' self rooting abilities. We want our opponents unable to escape for at least the first second while our Blizzard radius and slow takes care of the other two seconds to get all three strikes in.

So try it out in AI first, but remember that AI and Players behave differently. And if you see a circle around you, MOVE!

Because you no longer have the Frostbolt build your range will suffer. Some of this is alleviated by Blizzard range increase at Level 13. So be more careful, use your Blizzard if you have to defensively. Don't always 'wait'. Better to wait for a Blizzard reset than give enemy xp and wait for a long respawn by being killed.

Don't be afriad to use teammates as bait. Landing a Blizzard on them when enemies dive will typically reduce damage done to them as well.

Getting good with this build will enhance your ability to use Globes of Annihilation on Azmodan.
