Introduction Top

This build will help Alarak survive more easily, while maximizing damage output also without losing sadism.
Sadism is the strong point of Alarak, dealing bonus damage and increasing your self-healing effects.

Alarak becomes a strong solo laner and stays strong in teamfights, with various options that can be used in almost any situations.

Abilities Top

Discord Strike is your main tool. Dealing a good amount of damage and silencing the enemy, it's your main attack.

Telekinesis is a strong setup ability. It allows you to move ennemies or yourself, allowing combos, zoning, and retreat.

Lightning Surge is your sustain ability, healing you for every enemy hero your strike, as well as your most ranged attack that can be used as a finishing move.

Deadly Charge is your first Heroic Ability. It's a strong engage tool, also gives escape option, but keep in mind that the channeling can be interrupted easily.

Counter-Strike is your second Heroic Ability. It lets you be at the heart of the fight, prevent strong damage to burst some too, and counter specific abilities that could hinder you.

Talents Top

Level 1
Sustaining Power will provide more self-healing. Alarak can solo lane longer, and come back easier during teamfights.
Extended Lightning is a quest that helps you deal more damage from a ranged distance. The sadism reduction lowers your self-healing, which doesn't match with self-sustain build.
Ruthless Momentum is not the option to go for. It's only good for solo laning early game, since staying above 80% health is often really hard.

Level 4
Chaos Reigns will empower your damage output through your silencing ability. Hitting 3 heroes simultaneously is rare but it's not required to have a decent increase in damage.
Negatively Charged is a decent option as the damage bonus can stack infinitely. However, it only applies to heroes hit by the center of the lightning, and is usually better in a poke-build.
Show of Force is not very interesting. The requirement is too big for the little benefit it provides.

Level 7
Dissonance increases your silence ability duration by 0.75 second, which is long in terms of silence. It's a viable option that you can pick.
Hindered Motion will slow the enemies you move around. It gives them less fleeing potential, lets you zone someone more efficiently, or allows you to retreat more easily.
Applied Force increases your telekinesis power, at the cost of sadism reduction. If you're comfortable enough with Alarak, this talent is stronger.

Level 10
Deadly Charge is your engaging ultimate. However, with no specific way to sustain after engage.
Counter-Strike lets you be at the heart of the fight. It is reliable and helps you survive in a lot of situations.

Level 13
Blade of the Highlord is a viable option. Consecutive basic attacks get stronger, however Alarak is not based on auto-attack that much and the benefit requires you to land multiple ones to be effective.
Pure Malice is usually not a viable option. If you rely on your allies dying to get sadism, you can be sure to either not get it or die after your allie, which resets your sadism either way.
Rite of Rak'Shir is a strong option usually recommanded in any build. You can get a crazy amount of sadism simply by hitting the marked hero with Discord Strike, or even more getting the kill.
It also menaces the opponent and can zone him even more if he's low on health.

Level 16
Lethal Onslaught is a strong option that gives you burst damage for your basic attacks after silencing a target. You land Discord Strike more than basic attacks, but following up with just one will convert to a kill.
Lightning Barrage is a good talent in builds relying on Lightning Surge, or if you want more self-healing.
Mocking Strikes lowers your abilities cooldowns with basic attacks. It's strong, and good to pick if you lost your sadism or are vulnerable.

Level 20

Counter-Strike was already picked so it's not availiable to pick at all in this case. Although having double Counter-Strike could have been interesting.
Deadly Charge is now a viable option since you already have Counter-Strike to protect you after engage.
Last Laugh is a very risky option. Also it requires you to have all 3 basic abilities availiable to execute, and to not miss any in most cases.
Hasty Bargain is a strong tool to reset your cooldowns, but the trade with sadism, and the fact you don't have your second Heroic Ability availiable make this option less intersting overall.

Several tips Top

Alarak can be a solo laner, or a team fighter, adapt for your team throughout the game.

Try to land your abilities separately, but use your combo potential to chase efficiently or scare a target.

Your main combo is Telekinesis into Discord Strike.

Place your Rite of Rak'Shir on low health targets, or place it on any target before hitting them with Discord Strike to get as much sadism as possible.

When casting Lightning Surge, try to hit farther than your main target to get bonus damage from the center, if posssible.

Counter-Strike grants you unstoppable, allowing you to counter specific effetcs such as Chromie's Temporal Loop, or simply avoid burst damage like Tracer's Pulse Bomb or Kael'Thas' Pyroblast.

Be sure to push enemies with Telekinesis in specific zones, like E.T.C.'s Mosh Pit or Zarya's Graviton Surge.

Some Hero Synergies Top

Only if the heroes are played well enough, and even better with an effective communication.
Abathur can help you with mobility, and double Alarak can be extremely strong.
E.T.C can push enemies towards the team, and you can extend this. And Mosh Pit.
Zarya will protect you and you get strong value from the Graviton Surge.
You can push enemies in Nazeebo's Zombie Wall and setup big kills with this.
Leoric slows enemies and you can bring them back to extend his Drain Hope. And Entomb.
Maiev can bring enemies towards her, and you can prevent them from escaping after this.
Greymane likes to dive in, bring the target towards him for safety, and push them too.
Medivh's portals are always amazing, and the shield is strong with melee compositions.
Arthas' roots and slows can be a great setup for your combos.
Kel'Thuzad will move enemies around and root them. You will confuse them even more.
Jaina's constant slows will help you get strong damage.
Lunara's poison and slowing ability can help you, and reciprocately you get them in range.
Dehaka's drags will put pressure on a target, and you can extend this period.
Garrosh's throw initiates the kill, and you convert it by slowing with Telekinesis.
The stuns Anub'Arak provides allows you to get enough time to land a lot of attacks.
Probius' slowing ultimate is good for you, and you get enemies in his explosions.

Pretty much all heroes are still very good with Alarak as a teammate.
