Introduction Top

The undying king who fights on the front lines! The temptation with Leoric is to build for damage but as the king of warriors, you understand that winning a fight is more about the control. I'm not saying you have to leave all the damage to the assassins. but focusing on slows lets you hit more of your short range attacks, pursue and kill your enemy while setting them up better for your team.

Traits and Abilities Top

Trait:
Undying "Become a ghost when you die, and resurrect upon reaching full health. Your Abilities don't do damage while dead, but can still heal causing you to cheat death."

If used well you can cut down your death timer by a third or more. Also useful for scouting the enemy team and providing general annoyance. just make sure you are not in a bad position when you return to life.

Abilities:

Skeletal Swing (Q) "Swing in front of you to deal 110 (+10 per level) damage and slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds. Deals double damage to all non-Heroic sources."

The slow is an important part of your kit lets you chase down enemies or prevent them from moving in on your back line. It also allows more time for drain hope to steal life. at lvl. 7 slow can be increased to 60 percent which makes this the main source of your control.

Drain Hope (W) "Grab an enemy Hero's soul, dealing up to 25% of their maximum Health as damage and healing you for up to 25% of your maximum Health while you are nearby, over 4 seconds. You are slowed by 20% while this is active."

keeps you in the fight but only last for four seconds can also be used to heal while disengaging though the 20% slow makes this a bit risky.

Wraith Walk (E) "Separate from your body, becoming Unstoppable and gaining Movement Speed accelerating up to 50% over 2.5 seconds. When Wraith Walk ends or is canceled, your body jumps to your wraith."

very similar to sylvanas' banshees except you control the the movement. Used to escape or chase down enemies. just be careful as your body can still take dame so repress (E) to teleport early if in danger.

Undead abilities:
Ghastly Swing (Q) "Swing in front of you to slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds."

Mostly used to help your team mates escape when a fight goes bad, but also can secure kills on runners or be used to maintain enemy range for drain essence. Or simply to annoy the enemy team.

Drain Essence (W) "Throw out a chain, attaching to the first enemy Hero hit healing you for up to 178.2 (+16.2 per level) health over 4 seconds as long as you remain close to the enemy. You drain more essence the longer you remain connected."

Use it like drain hope but to shorten your death timer

Heroic abilities:
Entomb (R) "Create an unpathable tomb in front of you for 4 seconds."

Good for team fights. Not just for trapping an escaping enemy. It's also useful for setting up wombo-combos. zoning, separating the enemy team or blocking escape routes (similar to tassadars wall).

March of the Black King (R) "Become Unstoppable and swing your mace three times, healing yourself for 7.03% of your maximum Health for each enemy Hero hit and dealing 210 (+10 per level) damage."

Also a viable ability. Has to be carefully to avoid putting yourself in a bad position and timed well to land all 3 hits, but even if you miss you usually end up sending the enemy team running for a few seconds.

Talent Breakdown Top

Level 1:
HopelessnessIncreased range of lifesteal = increased life. more usable in combat then reanimation
Reanimationuseful for out of combat healing but as a warrior heals that are available during combat are more important
Blocknever a bad choice for a warrior.
Mana Thirst I haven't found mana to be as difficult as surviving heavy team fights. I find myself wishing I had this when I am already dominating the enemy team, but would never know that by level 1.

Level 4:
Willing Vessel increased life steal = more health when you need it. Though only an increase of 5% of your health it still increases your in fight sustain.
hardened bones 25% damage reduction can be used in fights to reduce damage or to ensure escapes. also an excellent choice
Fealty Unto Death synergizes well with your increased damage to minions but again not always available when in a team fight. the other choices in this tier are stronger.
Royal Focus not as strong as the other choices here.

Level 7:
Paralyzing Rage Key to the control build, plus your slows allow you to finish off enemies in smaller fights.

Level 10:
see abilities section

Level 13:
Drain Momentum makes you a deadly pursuer of enemies.

Level 16:
Renewed Swing Double application of slows

Level 20:
Spectral Leech increased fight sustain is what warriors are about

Death March if you took it at ten applies strong healing once per fight

Hardened Shield very strong in team fights keeps you alive ling enough for for healing or life steal to catch up.

Buried Alive by level 20 your team mates should be focused on the damage while you keep them in their place.
