Threat Hero Notes
1
Illidan Illidan is a powerful hero, but against the butcher he doesnt stand a chance. Simply use rutheless onslaught and hit him with your butchers brand and go to town. If he tries to escape put down lamb to the slaughter and he is dead.
2
  No Threat
3
Sylvanas Sylvanas is another easy fight. She does have a silence so be careful of that. Use ruthless
3
Tyrande Pretty easy fight. She has a heal and a stun, but outside of that you will out hit her. Dont let her kite you by using ruthless onslaught.
3
Raynor Can be a tough match, but you will out duel him. If he tries to escape use ruthless onslaught and he is done.
3
Stitches one of the few tanks on the lower end of the difficulty meter. Outside of his grab he cant do much to you. His grab can even benefit you by bringing you closer to him allowing you to drop butchers brand on him and let lose.
4
Nova I put nova at medium difficulty because she is not hard to take down as the butcher. If she pops out of stealth to find you simply do the same as illidan and use ruthless onslaught and use butchers brand on her. If she tries to run use lamb to the slaughter. Her tripple tap ult is counter by ruthless onslaught.
5
Murky
5
Valla

Falstad
5
Uther Has a stun, a heal, and one of his Ultimates can make him invincible. Uther will be hard to take down, but with backup he should go down easy.
6
  No Threat
7
E.T.C.
8
Brightwing Not a difficult target to take down, but watch out for bw's polymorph. If bw's team is there you will most likely die durign polymorph.
9
Muradin This guy is a walking CC machine. He will be able to crowd control you to death, and if he doesnt hit you with his stun, he can slow your attack speed.
9
Anub'arak The same as muradin, Crowd Control. Anubarak is a big threat, and if he is targeting you in a fight it might not go well.
9
Diablo Same as the other tanks on this difficulty, a lot of cc. Diablo can mess you up with his crowd control. Make sure you have backup when taking on this guy.

Introduction Top

Hi everyone and welcome. My name is SundayMornin and this is my first guide on the butcher. This build focuses on enhancing your gap closers, and locking down enemies while also giving you a nice damage boost in mid to late game.

By the way, make sure to check out my other builds as well. Just go to the top of the guide and check out the other builds i have setup for the butcher. Some of them are good, while others are just theory builds.

P.S. - I am still putting this guide together. I have cleaned up the abilities and ultimates section. I have begun to work on the talent pick breakdown. It should be finished later tonight. 7-10-2015

Check out my Leoric Pre-Release Guide as well. Click Here

Thanks For Reading,
Sunday

Abilities Top

Trait / Passive

Fresh Meat (Passive Trait)
Fresh Meat is The Butchers passive. Nearby Minions drop 1 and Heroes drop 3 Fresh Meat when they die, which you can pick up to gain 1% bonus Attack Damage. Can hold up to 25 Meat. All Meat is lost on dying.

Abilities

Hamstring (Q)
Mana: 50
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Deal 40 (+10 per level) damage and slow enemies by 49.92% fading over 2 seconds. Your next Basic Attack will strike immediately.

Butchers Brand (W)
Mana: 60
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Deal 30 (+2.5 per level) damage to an enemy and cause your Basic Attacks against them to heal you for 75% of the damage done for 5 seconds. Healing doubled versus Heroes.

Ruthless Onslaught (E)
Mana: 75
Cooldown: 20 seconds
Charge at an enemy, becoming Unstoppable and gaining Movement Speed. If you reach the target, they are stunned for 1 second and take 60 (+10 per level) damage.

Heroic Abilities

Lamb to the Slaughter (R)
Mana: 75
Cooldown: 60 seconds
Throw a hitching post that attaches to the nearest enemy Hero after a 1 second delay. This deals 75 (+15 per level) damage and causes the enemy to be chained to the post for 4 seconds.

Furnace Blast (R)
Mana: 75
Cooldown: 90 seconds
After a 3 second delay, fire explodes around you dealing 300 (+35 per level) damage to enemies. Can be cast while using Ruthless Onslaught.

Talents Top

-CD Reduction Build -Hamstring Build
At level 1 I take Invigoration. This not only reduces the mana cost of his Hamstring if it hits an enemy hero, but it also reduces the cooldown of it by 1 second allowing you to have it up in case there is a hero on low health that is in your range.

-Auto Attack Build
Victuals is another great talent that can also be taken at this level. This is usually taken if you are running with the Auto attack build, or in my Charge! theory build. It allows you to continuously pick up meat which means that you can stay in lane a bit longer.

-CD Reduction Build -Auto Attack Build
At level 4 I take Unrelenting Pursuit. This is probably one of his best talents available. It reduces the cooldown of Relentless Onslaught by 40% on impact of his target. This allows you to have your stun up almost all the time.

-Hamstring Build
At this level you will be wanting to take Flail Axe. Flail Axe increases the range of your Q by 40% giving you just a bit more reach to finish off escaping enemies.

-CD Reduction Build
This level 7 I take Insaitiable Blade. This will increase the healing of your butchers brand allowing you to survive longer in teamfights when you dive in.

-Hamstring Build
At this level you will want to take Brutal Strike. This will empower your next basic attack against a target after hitting it with hamstring. This will give you a bonus 50% damage on your next attack against the enemy hero. This build is focused on your Q so this ability is quite good as you do have very high attack damage.

-Auto Attack
At this level you will want Abattoir. This not only increase your max stack of Fresh Meat from 25-35, but you also only lose half of your stacks when you die. This allows you to not have to farm as much after dying.

-All Builds
This level is a tough one, but in the end I chose Lamb to the Slaughter. It is a great ability that will allow you to in some cases halt an enemy hero that is chasing you trying to finish you off. It is also great in a teamfight.

-Furnace Blast is an okay ability, but with so many assassins having some sort of an escape (not to mention most heroes in general) it can be very hard to hit. Your best bet is to combo his E - Ruthless Onslaught with Furnace Blast.

-CD Reduction Build
At level 13 I take Crave Flesh. This is another great gap closing ability. When it is active on an enemy you gain a 30% movement speed buff. This will allow you to catchup to escaping enemies and perform your combos.

-Auto Attack Build -Hamstring build
These builds are kind of SOL at this level. You can pick either burning rage, or Crave Flesh. They are both good abilities, but I have burning rage for a reason. These builds are focused on staying in the fight so being able to do some AOE damage is very nice.

Level 16 is a real toss-up. He only has 3 talents available, and they are all pretty useful. Crippling Slam makes Hamstrings slow no longer fade, and last longer. This is great when running a gap closing build such as this one by allowing your slow to last longer giving you time for your abilities to come off of cooldown. Enraged is a passive ability that enrages you for 10 seconds when knocked below 50% health. While enraged It gives you a 40% attack speed buff, and reduces the duration of slows, silences, roots, and stuns by 75%. This is a good ability as well depending on whether the enemy team has a bursty assassin on their team or not. His third and final talent on this tier is blood frenzy. Fresh Meat grants you Attack speed on top of the other effects granted by your passive. It only gives a +1% attack speed buff, but would fit best with a more damage oriented build.

This level is not hard at all to decide on. The best talent here is Nexus blade. It gives your basic attacks +20% attack damage and also slows your target for 1 second. This is an amazing talent for The Butcher due to him already having very high attack damage. It also gives you another means of slowing down your enemies rounding this build off to a close.

General Gameplay Top

The Butcher is not what he seems at first. Giving the impression of a tank, but in reality he is pretty frail. I struggled at first wanting to believe that he was tankier than he seemed, but mostly ran to my death using relentless onslaught. He is great at picking of stragglers. Using a combo of his E, then his Q, and then his W makes for either a dead hero or a nearly dead hero. Most of the time the slow from his Q allows either you to catchup and use it again or allows your team to catchup and finish the kill.

With this build You will have quite a lot of gap closers which counters his biggest weakness which is mobility. For his combo, you want to engage with his E, then use his W to mark them, and then use his Q to slow your enemy. Pretty much repeat this until they are dead. Obviously be careful of how far deep you are going into the enemy team. He is also very good in the jungle if you take Insatiable Blade at level 7. It will allow him a bit of sustain against camps, and due to him having very high attack damage, he is able to take them down pretty easily while restoring his health substantially.
