Introduction Top

Hey guys, this is Rexigon. This is my first really detailed guide for a really fun hero that I've instantly fallen in love with. I want to share some advice which should help you have some success with this epic two headed ogre; Cho'gall!
"Cho'gall was trained in the arts of the arcane by the warlock Gul'dan, who aided the struggling ogre in mastering the powers of the Twisting Nether. In time, Cho'gall became one of the most feared and venerated members of the Old Horde during the First and Second Wars against the humans.

Cho'gall became the Chieftain of an orc clan after the previous one was executed for disobeying the Shadow Council. Cho'gall renamed the clan as the Twilight's Hammer, while all records of both the clan's old name and the chieftain's one were destroyed.[3]

Though Cho'gall was extremely powerful, he was also dangerously insane. The clan, less of a tribe and more of a religious cult, was devoted to bringing about the apocalypse. In his capacity as a chieftain and as the right hand of Gul'dan, Cho'gall aided his master in the creation of the death knights and the Altars of Storms, and in the transformation of normal ogres into ogre magi."

Cho Talent Guide Top

Blazing Bulwark provides a nice little extra amount of damage soak, especially against auto-attack based heroes such as Illidan or Raynor. None of the level 1 talents are amazing, but I find this to be the best one.
I've also done quite a bit of play with Surging Dash in combination with Power Surge at level 7, and while it does give you a little bit more mobility, I find the survivability of Blazing Bulwark more important.
Blazing Bulwark is simply far more consistent and reliable. There won't always be a health globe next to you.
Runed Gauntlet gives some incredible burst and good healing when combined with Fire Eater at level 7 and Hammer of Twilight at level 10.
I have also played quite a bit with Rollback. I do think that it is a good talent, but I feel the great burst and healing from Runed Gauntlet is far better.
Seared Flesh just doesn't put out as much damage as the crazy burst from Runed Gauntlet
Fire Eater gives you some nice healing and sustain combined with Runed Gauntlet and Twilight Hammer to keep you in the fight, alive, and doing damage.
I did play with this quite a lot combined with Surging Dash at level 1, and while the mobility is nice I found the sustain from Blazing Bulwark and Fire Eater allowing you to stay in the fight longer far more important.
The extra attack speed is kind of nice, but the sustain from Fire Eater is more important.
Hammer of Twilight is very, very good. It provides a constant damage increase. It has great synergies with Runed Gauntlet and Fire Eater It has a great AoE stun on a very, very short cooldown. This is in my opinion the ultimate of choice for Cho'Gall.
While I do think Hammer of Twilight is the better ultimate ability, Upheaval can be good. It can be a great disruption for enemies and pull them into your team's wombo combos. I do reccomend that you have voice comms with your Gall if you go for this ability, because you absolutely dont want him to waste his Shadow Bolt Volley right before you pull all of the enemy team behind you.
This talent is very, very good at saving your ***. I can't count how many times I have been in a certain death situaton but survived because Molten Block gave me time for my cooldowns to finish and for my team to back me up. Great talent.
You'll only be able to hit one or two targets max in a busy feedback so you wont get much value from this during fights and Molten Block is just way too good to pass up.
It's nice for a little extra survivability but Molten Block can already keep you alive and much better.

Twilight Veil is a very good spell shield, which is especially great if you're going against a really painful mage like Jaina.
Surge of Stamina is a nice damage reduction. I would definitely prefer Twilight Veil if you're against some hard-hitting casters, but otherwise this might not be too bad.
This is a nice slow. If you don't need survivability from Twilight Veil or Surge of Stamina then this can be a great crowd control, something Cho'Gall doesn't have a lot of.
This is a nice range increase and a good slow.
If you're picking Upheaval this is the way to go. Really great tankiness.
Against stun heavy teams this is great so that you can get out of trouble.

Gall Talent Guide Top

Gall's Z ablity is crucial to Cho's survival and chasing down fleeing enemies. This allows you to use that ability, very, very quickly whenever you need it.
This lets you maybe hit enemies a little easier, but the Spurred Onward is just so good that in my opinion this isn't worth it.
If you need the vision, this might be good, but again, Spurred Onward is very good and the best talent there.
This gives Cho'Gall more survivability and is generally the best talent at level 4.
This talent can be useful sometimes in tight spaces, but do note that sometimes you're handicapping yourself by not allowing the full range.
Rune Bomb already has a long range, this talent isn't needed.
Rune Bomb does a large amount of Cho'Gall's damage, and any increase to that is welcome, especially since it stacks with Siphoning Runes healing.
Cho'gall won't consistently be extremely close to a target so this talent isn't as useful as Dark Descent
This is a nice damage increase, but Dark Descent stacks with Siphoning Runes and overall is better.
This is an extremely good but hard to master ultimate. It can be easy to waste if Cho'gall accidently uses his Q right after you activate it, wasting the whole thing. It can be used to kill fleeing enemies, destroy teamfights, and overall dominate. Also remember that it can't pierce until level 20, so dont use it in front of minion waves! Also, this can be used completely to siege buildings down sometimes. This is the far better ultimate with a bit of practice.
This ultimate is not nearly as good as Shadow Bolt Volley and definitely shouldn't be picked if Cho went for Hammer of Twilight If Cho did pick Upheaval than this talent can be used to make some wombos, but even then I still greatly prefer [[Shadow Bolt Volley]
This is a nice damage boost. In my opinion all three talents here at level 13 are viable, so choose the most helpful one in the moment.
This is a really great speed boost, and keep Cho'Gall moving a lot. In my opinion all three talents here at level 13 are viable, so choose the most helpful one in the moment.
This is a nice shield which will boost Cho'Gall's survivability. In my opinion all three talents here at level 13 are viable, so choose the most helpful one in the moment.
This is a great damage increase against tanky heroes, especially against enemy Cho'Galls.
This talent is also viable at level 16, and can do a lot of damage in tight areas.
This small boost might be useful, but if you have Spurred Onward or Speed of Twilight you won't need it over Giant Scorcher or Twilight Nova
This is an extremely good talent and I would almost always pick it. Allows you to use it in front of minions or summons, and it can absolutely destroy clumped up enemies.
This is a nice bonus to Twisting Nether if you picked it, though you probably should have picked Shadow Bolt Volley anyways
This is a very interesting talent that allows you to cast after death. Honestly I haven't tested it much but I can't see it being better than the other level 20 talents.
