Introduction Top

Hey guys,

this is my first guide to Heroes and I really hope you'll enjoy it. By the way sorry for my English, I'm from Germany :)
So let's get started.
Tyrael, the Archangel of Justice, is a meele Tank with moderate damage and an Heroic, which is probably the best engage/chase tool in the entire game by now. You can build him in many ways, e.g. as a tank or a bruise-style dps hero, last is what im focussing on in this guide.
The Archangel of Justice, also offers a fair set of mobillity-abilities and a shield for your allies.
But keep in mind this build should only be used, when your team has another tank.

Skills Top

Q- El'Druin's Might (Skillshot)

You throw your sword, deal damage in an area and, by clicking the ability again, you can teleport to the sword's location

W- Righteousness ( Automatic AoE)

Give yourself and nearby allies, including minions, a shield which scales of with your level

E- Smite (Skillshot)

Mark the ground in front of the angel with an angelic rune and deal damage to enemies the rune hits. Also gain movementspeed when passing the rune

R- Judgment (Ponit'n'Click)

Fly to a targeted enemy and lock them in place for a moderate amount of time, also push back enmies near your target

R-Sanctification (Channel)

Make nearby allies invulnerable for a few seconds

Trait- Archangel's Warath

When Tyrael dies you transform into a living bomb, moving around and detonating after a couple of seconds, dealing area of effect damage

Talents- Rated and Explained Top

Level 1

When your passive explodes, nearby allies receive a shield for a few seconds. 1/5 Shouldn't be considered a choice, because the effect is too weak and the other options are too good. Additionally you already have a shield, so you won't need another one.
Increases the damage your sword does when hitting the ground. 3/5 Moderate choice in some cases, but you generally don't want to use your escape to deal damage.
Increases the damage of your Smite against heroes by 25%. 5/5 Best choice on this rank, for it's dealing significant amounts of damage and so giving you better tradeing potential.
For every Regeneration Globe you collect, your health regeneration is increased. 4/5 Good choice if you are the only tank for your team, but shouldn't be taken, if you want to deal most damage you possibly can.

Level 4

Increases the amount of healing you receive, inclouding wells. 3/5 Good talent, if you are out to be as tanky as possible.
Grants HP when hitting enemies. 3/5 Not too bad, but there are better choices in most games.
Reduces the cooldown of Smite (E) by 0.5sec for each enemie hit with the ability. 4/5 Very good damage tool, because more Smites available.
Allows Tyrael to use his non heroic abilities before he explodes, but they will deal no damage. 2/5 Not really usefull, but sometimes funny.

Level 7

Reduce your abilitie's cooldown with each basic attack. 5/5 Just a great talent to go with, for extra sustain and damage.
After you teleported to your sword, you gain some movespeed for the next few seconds. 2/5 Not really bad, but there are much better choices to go with.
Your shield (W) deals damage when exploding. 2/5 Basically never usefull, because you wont lack damgae anyways.
Shield duration is doubled. 3/5 Actually quite good, but not the best talent to go with on this level.
Empower your basic attacks for the next seconds in exchange for them costing some Mana. 3/5 You got better choices, but its still a good alternative for some fun and damage.

Level 10

Fly to an enemy and lock him in place for a couple of seconds, also knock back nearby enemies. 5/5 Probably the best engage tool in the entire game.
Channel 3 seconds in which nearby allies are invulnerable. 3/5 Good ability but no comparison to Judgment.

Level 13

Gain a burning aura, dealing a bit of AoE damgae around your hero. 3/5 Good talent, but not for this build.
Gain HP for each enemie hitting you, while your shield (W) is up. 2/5 Not really good, but can make you very tanky.
Slow the attackspeed and movementspeed of enemies attacking you. 4/5 Very good talent and a nice addition to the offensive build path. Grants 1V1 potential.
For each enemy hit by Smite (E), your next basic attack will do extra damage. 3/5 Good damage tool, but not really necessary.

Level 16

After you teleported to your sword, your next 3 basic attacks will deal bonus damage. 2/5 You don't really need the extra damage that late in the game, as you are a tank in first place.
After teleporting to El'Druin, a small area around the sword is unpassable for enemies. 3/5 Good in some builds, but not in this one.
Empowers your shield for each hero shielded. 3/5 Makes you really tanky if used well.
Deal damage to an enemie hero, and heal yourself, also slow the enemy. 5/5 Simply one of the best talents in the game.

Level 20

Increased Range and lowered cooldown on Judgment (R). 3/5 Good, but there are better options for Tyrael.
Increased duration on Sanctification (R) and allies have increased damage. 4/5 If you go for Sanctification (R), a must have.
Activate to reduce incomin damage for the next few seconds. 5/5 Very good to survive after Judgmenting into 5 enemies.
Basic attacks deal more damage. 4/5 Very good damage push, which you might want to take sometimes, if your team really lacks damage.

Early Game Top

Try to harass your opponents with Smite (E) and shield yourself with Righteousness (W) so you are able to win most of the trades. Also try not to use your Q-ability for it is your only escape option. You, by the way, can travel trough walls with the teleport part of El'Druin's Might. Use this to your advantage, e.g. to re-position for an upcoming teamfight or to escape a sticky situiation.
In the early stages of the game don't try to go for everything moving, 'cause your true strenghts lies in killing one enemy with your heroic and tank basically every hit.

Mid/Late Game Top

Always stay with your team. ALWAYS. This is the most important aspect when playing as Tyrael. You can't take on 5 enemies on your own, but grouped with your team you are able to destroy an important target with one good combo. Also be aware that you hit the correct target, e.g. an Illidan or a Valla, in the teamfight so you can give an advantage to your team. Never use Judgment on the enemy tank or Support, unless it is either necessary for you to re-position or escape, or it is the last member alive anyways. Also use El'Druin's Might (Q) in combination with Judgment (R) to do a fancy and effective drive by/ lockdown combo.

The End Top

Thank you very much for reading my guide.
I hope it was helpful and informative. Maybe you learned something new about my favourite hero in the nexus.
I would be really happy about feedback in the comments and rates.
Hope we read us again, bye.
