About Me

This is my first guide for any Moba ever. In fact, I've played Moba's since the days of when Dota was just a custom game in Warcraft 3. Anyways, I've recently converted completely over to Heroes of the Storm and have grown quite fond of the game. The roles I play are normally Tank and Support heroes so look forward to seeing my builds for other tanks and supports in the near future.

The Reason I have chosen Johanna to be my first guide well she's just the perfect tank in my opinion:
Pros
[*]High Mitigation of Damage almost nearly impossible to kill 1 on 1(even 5 v 1 in some cases) with
Iron Skin, Indestructible
[*]High HP Regen/Sustain Regeneration Master, Laws Of Hope
[*]High Crowd Control with Slow, Pull, Blind, and Knock-up, or Stun
Cons
[*]Low to mediocre damage at best depending on build
[*]Low mobility with the exception of Falling Sword
[*]Main Damage skill Punish has poor range of attack (You may miss alot).

Here is my reasoning for which talents I think are the most useful with a ranking system from 4 being the most useful to 1 being the least.
4/4 Reinforce is like a better version of Block in that you don't have a waiting period for it to stack. As long as you keep using your abilities you will always have a chance of blocking the next 50% of basic attack damage. This is great because Johanna excels at damage mitigation. In fact, she may just be the best tank in this area. The only reason I tend to pick this over Regeneration Master is because mitigation is more useful in a team fight than HP Regen.
3/4 Regeneration Master, is probably the only other talent I may choose over Reinforce because it helps with great lane sustain which benefits EXP gain for the team. This in addition with Laws Of Hope, causes Johanna to become the hero with the best HP regeneration in the game. It's possible to get up to 100 HP/sec, or higher! It's also great because it usually means Johanna is always going to be around! Lately I find it hard to choose between this and reinforce, while reinforce is great for mitigating basic attacks reg master just keeps you around on the map longer.
2/4 Knight Takes Pawn is a talent only necessary on certain maps, particularly ToSQ, because it helps clear lanes to collect gems for quicker objective control. It may only be a choice also if your team has weak lane clearance potential. Otherwise it does not benefit the party in a team fight. Great for getting those objectives though.
1/4 Righteous Smash can be very nice pick if you are worried about your mana. if you manage to hit more than 4 targets with Punish you basically used 0 mana + 10(x)extra units hit. This means you have a chance of gaining mana instead of losing it. However, it would possibly be more useful if it lowered the Cooldown for Punish for each enemy hit. From what I could tell while playing her is that it's a skill that tends to get picked when you feel like dealing more constant damage because you will always have mana for moves if you manage to land a Punish. COMBO IT WITH CONDEMN

4/4 Laws Of Hope Most likely the "go-to" skill for Johanna at level 4. This is because it increases her chances of survival especially when you don't have a support hero around placing it aboveAmplified Healing. The amazing thing about the talent is that it has a passive and an active state. While the active state heals you 5% per second, the passive effect is not a flat regen amount it scales with each level. Thus, making it work wonders with Regeneration Master
3/4 Eternal Retaliation's, usefulness is much greater than Knight Takes Pawn. Yet you can still use it in combination with it on stages that require alot of lane clearance like ToSQ. However, the real usefulness from the talent shines through if you are good at landing Condemn on many enemies. If you can position yourself well you will have opportunities to continue pressuring enemy teams in fights because of the CD reduction rate. In many cases I tend to pick this over Laws of Hope if I have a good support hero on the team.
2/4 Roar surprisingly this talent isn't that bad. It is a must talent to pick if you plan on building Johanna into a Battlesader (DPS Crusader) along with Battle Momentum. It increases the chances of picking off that one guy who keeps getting away somehow (which is always nice).
1/4 Amplified Healing a great skill if you have supports on your team. However, at times your team may not be running a support hero, or you may be caught alone and ganked. So as a result, I believe Laws Of Hope can serve Johanna better.

4/4 Sins Exposed many people might be wondering why I would pick this over Battle Momentum. Well the only real reason is for team fights. If you can get a good initiation your team will be at a greater advantage to floor the enemy. With the right team comp you can deal increased amounts of damage with this talent. Overall, it just increases your teams damage output. So if you are a team player go for this talent other wise Battle Momentum is just as good.
3/4 Battle Momentum this talent is usually a staple talent for warriors. However, the only real skill necessary for CD reduction would be Condemn and if you are going that route and have picked up Eternal Retaliation. Still many people may prefer this move over Sins Exposed because it will help continue pressuring the enemy by getting your skills off continuously in a team fight. As for me, I rather have my team hit harder.
2/4 The Crusade Marches On this talent is great if you desire more survivability. However, in most scenarios Johanna already has one of the highest chances of living. She is down right the most tanky of all the tanks.
1/4 Conviction The only plus side of this talent is that it can get you close enough for your Condemn to connect. I may need more testing with this talent to see the use of it. As of right now the 1 second movement speed increase just doesn't seem that amazing and rather lackluster of a talent. Also if you find yourself being chased alot The Crusade Marches On may be more useful because you are unaffected by CC. After testing this skill is not a good choice for HL. Now in QM it can be useful if you are putting all talents into condemn.

2/2 Falling Sword from what I've experienced playing Johanna is that this is typically your "go-to" heroic talent and probably the most badass skill in the whole game. It is amazing for initiating on the enemy and setting for a follow-up Condemn followed by an onslaught of team heroics. Not to mention it does more damage than Blessed Shield. Even better is that you can pick of those guys trying to run away. And it's secreatly the only true range escape move Johanna has.
1/2 Blessed Shield this is normally better to pick if the enemy team is much harder to catch with Falling Sword or if the team requests it over it. It is a fairly long stun and can help get the team into position. However, the range and damage is not as great as Falling Sword, nor does it off an method of escape.
I've noticed more builds lately have been picking Blessed Shield. I can understand why, but I still feel like Falling Sword can be more viable in most situations.

4/4 Burning Rage this is skill is always compatible with any team and any tank because it offers more damage output. That together with the fact that Johanna does not have great damage will always be welcome. Since she is almost always around in a team fight, it helps apply pressure unaware to the enemy. Plus, since you are already so difficult to kill why not do a little more damage.
3/4 Hold Your Ground more survivability is always nice. With a CD reduction to your trait you become more of a threat to the enemy to look out for. If the enemy team has high damage output you may want to pick this over Burning Rage.
2/4 Subdue is a reasonable choice in some situations, but only some. Normally, you may want to pick this up if the enemy has high mobile heroes to help shut them down.
1/4 Spell Shield pretty much the most useless skill in Johanna's arsenal besides Conviction. What makes it such a poor talent is the fact that it doesn't have any stacks and only works once every thirty seconds. If you want protection get Hold Your Ground not this.

Still sorting out this level tier.
4/4 Imposing Presence very good for the current meta in most cases. It aids the team in shutting down DPS heroes like Valla, Illidan, and Sylvanas. It does so by decreasing their attack speed by 50% which is substantial.
3/4 Blessed Hammer very nice if your build is relying heavily on Condemn as it offers just a little more damage for you. However, it does not last very long. If you aren't so sure about this skill go with either Imposing Presence or Fanaticism.
2/4 Fanaticism useful in the sense that it allows you to have more chances of escaping dangerous moments during a match. It could even help you engage a fight by the enemy hitting you causing you to close in the distance to them faster. However, that is all it offers. Need's more testing.
1/4 Renewal could be useful for sustain, but the other talents seem more benefiting for the team. Need's more testing.

4/4 Heaven's Fury awesome in that it lowers the CD as well as increases the damage the heroic gives making it more than likely the choice here. It is also alot more useful in team fights.
3/4 Indestructible awesome skill in that it really does it what it says it does and it keeps Johanna's streak of not dying; alive and true. It's only downside is the very long CD. If you decide to run with Blessed Shield this is the skill to pick for level 20.
2/4 Storm Shield can be handy sometime to pick up if your team lacks survivability (With the exception of yourself of course XD).
1/4 Radiating Faith if you did pick up Blessed Shield you may want this. It increases the range and the amount of targets that can be stunned. Alas, it does not lower CD and it does not increase the damage. Indestructible is the better pick in this case.
