Zeratul is one of the strongest assassins in the game. The mighty Protoss relies heavily on his trait, the permanent cloak, which makes him ultimately suited to do what assassins need to do: kill other Heroes.
His abilities allow him to dish out a lot of damage and he's the only Hero in game that has permanent
Bolt of the Storm on a 10 second cooldown from the start of the game. This makes him the best "Go in - kill them - go out" Hero in the game.
Q
Cleave
Cleave is a short ranged ability which means you will need to get close to hit with it. You can just get up close while stealthed and then cleave when next to the target. It's also an AOE damage zo try to be in the middle of as much minions or heroes as you can be.
W
Singularity Spike
Singularity Spike is a range ability and 1 of your 2 crowd control abilities. AFter you put it on something it will explode after 1 second and slow the target. This one is a skillshot, so you need to practice it to get optimal results with it.
E
Blink
Blink is one of the best abilities in the game. It's a
Bolt of the Storm with a 10 sec CD and usable from start of the game. This is your escape and is the reason why Zeratul is so good. When you went up close and personal with enemy heroes, you can just blink to safety. With the talent at level 13 this talent will also become your main initiator.
R1
Void Prison
Some people call this ultimate the best one in the game and for good reason. There is no other ability that can take multiple heroes out of the game for 5 whole seconds. If you can seperate the enemy team by taking out 2 or 3 people, it's a guaranteed win in a teamfight.
R2
Shadow Assault
This ultimate will give 20% attack speed for 6 seconds and you will charge the enemy. It's good when you are 1v1, but in teamfights it's not that great. You are going to be close to the enemy and because the meta is really dominated by stuns right now, you are bound to get stunned and then picked off quickly.
Trait
Permanent Cloak
This trait is the reason why Zeratul is who he is: a killing machine. When you are 3 sec out of combat you will cloak and become invisble. You will not be entirely invisible and a small blur can be seen on the terrain. Players with a skilled eye will be able to see you move around. For those who can't see you, you will become a real nightmare because you can sneak up behind them, get the combo's off and kill them before they even realized what happened.

Regeneration Master
|
|
You will be jumping in, dealing damage, jumping out a lot with Zeratul. But by being so close to the enemy you are bound to receive some damage. Because you have a low health pool, regeneration master will help you to recover more health while out of combat. I've had games where I went up to 30 globes, which gave me the health regen I needed. That way I didn't had to hearthstone back and was back in the fight in no time.

Level 4
Focused Attack
|
|
Focused Attack is the talent that will combo really good with our level 7 talent. Every 10 seconds your auto attack deals 75% more damage. In the Kharazim patch this talent got buffed, because now the 75% damage only procs when used on a hero and not on minions anymore. Also every auto attack reduce the cooldown of the proc by 1 second.

Level 7
Follow Through
|
|
Follow Through is what makes this build so good. After you have used an ability your next auto attack will deal 40% extra damage. If the Focused Attack from level 4 is proc'ing your auto attack will deal even more damage. The way this combo works best is: get up close to the target and put the Singularity Spike (W) on it and then auto attack it. Then Cleave (Q) the target and auto attack again. This will deal an insane amount of damage to the target. When we choose the level 16 and 20 talent, we will combo even more!

Level 10
Void Prison
|
|
Void Prison is considered by many players as the best ultimate in the game. I agree with that because a well placed Void Prison can change the outcome of teamfights and the game. The drawback is in the words "well placed". I see so many Zeratuls mess up the Void Prison and ending up cancelling ultimates from teammates. It is an art to place a good Void Prison. You can Void Prison their entire team and combo it with AOE abilities/ultimates from your team. You can also Void Prison their healer(s) and tank(s) so your team got 5 seconds to kill their remaining damage dealers.

Shadow Assault only grants 20% attack speed and you will charge at your target. It will make you stay really close to the target and thus puts you in danger of getting CC'd. It's good 1v1, but not good in teamfights. If it granted 20% attack damage I would reconsider it.
