Welcome Top

Hi, I'm Jesse Stephens "eodpyro". I'm still kinda new to HOTS but have played other MOBA's in the past like LoL and Dota 2. I'm also new to the hero and team league in HOTS however have done massive amounts of research and have put this team comp with these builds in practice multiple times with a great amount of success. We just formed our team Best Pals and are going to climb to the top :)

Now to the good stuff, the build and play style of this team.

The Team Comp Top

There are so many good team comps out there and this isn't an end all to be all set up. It's more so what has just worked the most with us and our individual play styles mixing to make one. This build has worked on every map whether it's team fight focused like Battlefield of Eternity, or more split up like Dragon Shire. The key to any good team is just communication and it's not easy at first, just have to work on it. So we have Anub'arak, Jaina, Kael'thas, Leoric, and Malfurion and here is why the team is like it is.

Anub'arak is a decent tank with good stuns.

Jaina is great at area denial and slowing the masses.

Kael'thas is also great at area denial and does high burst damage.

Leoric is a good tank who persists after death so he can get right back in the fight. (BUT THIS IS NOT HOW HE IS PLAYED HERE. DON'T GO FEEDING THE TEAM ALL THAT XP)

Malfurion is a good choice due to his ability to heal, root, and provide mana to the team. The mana giving is super crucial to keeping Kael'thas and Jaina in the fight.

Early Game Top

Early game you MUST play reserved. Hold your lanes and pick off an enemy hero if they stray to far but in the early game, this is most definitely a team fight comp. Don't try for one of theirs unless you know you can get it. Harassment while picking up the xp from minions is how this plays in the early game.

If you are fighting on a two lane map, split up like this. Malfurion, Kael'thas, and Leoric on one lane. With Anub'arak and Jaina on the other. Split up like this because each mini team has stuns or roots, has a tank, and has a dps. If things get to hard on one end or the other then by all means, rotate out, just be careful in doing so because that single character is alone now.

If you are fighting on a three lane map, split up like this. Leoric with Jaina, Anub'arak alone (in the middle so he is easy to get to from either lane if needed), and Malfurion with Kael'thas on the last lane. This split still provides stuns or roots with the exception of Jaina's lane but she can slow them significantly.

Mid/Late Game Top

Now that you have your ultimate, this team become a wrecking ball. Coordinate and communicate with each other to use them well. In a 5v5 match, this team can win with little to no damage taken. If you catch a character away from the pack, pick them off. This can be done without using anyone's ultimate. Pick them up using Kael'thas's Gravity Lapse and then let your two dps take care of them. If say it's a tank and it manages to survive the barrage it just got, then root them using Malfurion's Entangling Roots and finish them off.

Now if you catch them in a group this is where you are to destroy their morale. It must be coordinate and have constant communication for this to work. To initiate, trap the team using Leoric's Entomb followed immediately with all of these at once; Anub'arak's Impale talent, Kael'thas' Pheonix, and Jaina's Ring of Frost. At this point the team should be dying rather quickly and even more so when you add the regular dps talents of Jaina and Kael'thas. The reason why this has worked so well with us is once they are all trapped with entomb, they are easier targets for AOE. Anub'arak will stun them using impale which prevents them fighting back but more importantly stuns them long enough for Jaina's ult to hit them all after the delay which will root and damage them and make them take increased damage from Jaina's talents which once stacked with her Cone of Cold at level 16 makes them vulnerable and takes 25% more damage from everyone. All the while you have Kael'thas' Pheonix dealing massive amounts of damage to everyone since it splashes. No after all this is said and done, the entire team will be either dead or very close to it. You can chase using Anub'arak's Burrow and stun them again while the team catches up or you still have his ultimate Web Blast which will 9 out of 10 times leave that hero stranded due to the rest of the team having just been destroyed. Also if things get to hairy, you have Malfurion pop his ultimate and keep the team alive.

Each Build Top

Anub'arak's build focuses on being able to stun at a distance or being able to get in/out of a fight quickly using burrow. He can solo a lane and harass an enemy hero but most of the time will not be able to finish them off alone.

Jaina's trait allows her to deal additional damage to chilled targets so the name of the game is to chill as many targets as possible. Her talents stacked with Icy Veins at level 13 make her a huge pain in the butt to fight alone so expect to be in a 2v1 fight with her if you aren't paired up with someone.

Kael'thas' is mana hungry across the entire build, so this is why we pick up mana addict on the first level, to help combat that. He is a good hero, he is just squishy so while he does massive damage to others, pair him with someone to either heal or soak up damage for him.

Leoric is a good tank who deals decent damage in my eyes. I just constantly see him being played poorly by feeding the team xp by rushing in somewhere, killing some minions or a tower just to die. Being able to spawn anywhere after death isn't his main strategy, it's just another tool in the tool bag so use it appropriately.

Malfurion is not the best healer but he is the best for this team due to his ability to heal AND restore mana to our two mana hungry hero's. This keeps them in the fight longer and either forces the other team to commit to their death or run and let that lane be pushed in some more.

Please please please provide feedback. This is my first guide I have written and would like to know how I did and where I can improve. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Now get back into the storm!!!
